Badminton Prodigies Dominate Nagpur District Tournament

On September 29, 2025, the Nagpur district selection badminton tournament concluded at the Achievers Sports Club in Besa, with several young talents making their mark. Jeeva Pillai, a rising star, emerged as the champion in the men's singles and doubles events. In the men's singles final, Jeeva registered a thrilling 21-18, 12-21, 21-16 victory over Krishna Singh. He then paired up with 15-year-old Sairaj Nayse to clinch the men's doubles title, rallying from a game down to defeat Akshad Vitonde and Ashish Rajput 10-21, 24-22, 21-15.

In the girls' events, Anudhya Satpute and Vaishnavi Manglekar showcased their prowess. Anudhya dominated the U-13 and U-15 girls' singles finals, prevailing over Dhriti Mehta and Harshika Sharma, respectively, in straight games. Vaishnavi, on the other hand, registered a come-from-behind victory in the U-17 girls' singles final, defeating Sanvi Ghate 14-21, 21-11, 21-16, before clinching the U-19 title with a 21-18, 21-10 triumph over Fizza Akbani.

The tournament, which saw the participation of 223 shuttlers across 25 events, will be considered a selection event for the upcoming inter-district U-17 and U-19 championships.
