15 Mar
Summary
- Archer Rishabh Yadav has had a minor slump in recent events.
- He is preparing for the Asian Games and the 2028 Olympics.
- Guidance from mentor Abhishek Verma is crucial for his preparation.

Compound archer Rishabh Yadav, who experienced a breakthrough year in 2025, is currently navigating a minor slump. He finished sixth in the initial Open selection trials for the Asian Games and the first two World Cup stages in January. Yadav noted that while his qualification average was 708, the top archer shot 711. He also lost three to four matches that went into a shoot-off during the round-robin stage.
Yadav joined the National camp on Sunday in preparation for the Asia Cup Stage-1 in Bangkok, scheduled from March 23. He chose this event over the Vegas Shoot to better prepare for the Asian Games, anticipating strong competition among India's top archers. His ultimate goal includes excelling in the 2028 Olympics, where compound archery will debut with a mixed team event.
Reflecting on his performance, Yadav stated that performance graphs in sports naturally fluctuate. He credited his long-time mentor, Abhishek Verma, for continuous guidance and expressed his determination to excel in the second selection trials for the Asian Games. He also emphasized the mental strength required for partnerships in mixed team events, whether with a junior or a senior partner like V. Jyothi Surekha.
