Real Madrid Face Villarreal in Crucial La Liga Showdown

Real Madrid is preparing to face Villarreal on Saturday, seeking their third consecutive win in a significant La Liga encounter. Despite struggling at Villarreal's home ground in recent seasons, Alvaro Arbeloa's team is second in the standings.

Villarreal, currently in third place, presents a difficult challenge. While Raul Asencio is expected to rejoin the squad after a leg knock, Rodrygo Goes remains a doubt due to a muscle issue. He has missed the team's last two games.

Brahim Diaz has returned to training following Morocco's Africa Cup of Nations final campaign. He is anticipated to be available for the match against Villarreal, aiming to put a recent penalty shootout loss behind him.

This fixture is a key indicator of Real Madrid's development under Arbeloa. A defeat would be a considerable setback for their title hopes, especially with Barcelona facing a weaker opponent.
