Real Madrid risks suspension drama vs Sociedad

Real Madrid is set to face Real Sociedad at the Santiago Bernabeu, aiming to secure a vital lead in the La Liga title race. Currently, they are only one point ahead of Barcelona, making tonight's match crucial.

Adding to the game's tension, two Real Madrid players, defender Alvaro Carreras and forward Franco Mastantuono, are walking a disciplinary tightrope. Both have accumulated four yellow cards this season and are one booking away from an automatic one-match suspension.

Should Carreras or Mastantuono receive a yellow card during the match, they will miss Real Madrid's subsequent league fixture against Osasuna on February 21st. While the team has backup options available, including Fran Garcia, Ferland Mendy, Brahim Diaz, and potentially Rodrygo, the focus remains on the players avoiding caution to ensure availability for future games.
