26 Oct
Summary
- Former player Gerard Lopez believes Real Madrid performs better without Vinicius Junior.
- Lopez stated the team runs more and better when Vinicius is absent.
- Yan Diomande was highlighted as the best player in the match.
Former Barcelona midfielder Gerard Lopez has controversially asserted that Real Madrid demonstrates superior performance when winger Vinicius Junior is absent from the lineup. Lopez believes the team achieves greater balance and exhibits improved running dynamics without the Brazilian star.
This assessment followed Real Madrid's crucial 2-1 victory against rivals Barcelona at Camp Nou. Despite missing Vinicius due to a domestic suspension, the team secured the win. Lopez's bold statement suggests the absence of the star forward was strategically beneficial.
Lopez also singled out summer signing Yan Diomande for praise, naming him the best player for Real Madrid during the Clasico. Diomande's performance on the left wing, filling the void left by Vinicius, was instrumental, with his acceleration leading to Kylian Mbappe's opening goal.
Vinicius Junior is currently serving a four-match ban. He will miss upcoming matches against Racing Santander and Valencia. He is expected to return for the Champions League clash against AEK.
