Valdepeñas Set for Shock Left-Back Debut?

Real Madrid finds itself in a severe left-back predicament ahead of Sunday's encounter with Alaves. Injuries to Ferland Mendy and David Alaba, coupled with suspensions for Alvaro Carreras and Fran Garcia, have depleted the squad. Even Eduardo Camavinga, often an emergency solution, is unavailable.

This dire situation has opened the door for Real Madrid Castilla defender Victor Valdepeñas. Valdepeñas, a natural central defender, has shown versatility by playing left-back on numerous occasions. His performance in Friday's training session reportedly impressed the coaching staff, making him a viable option for Xabi Alonso.

The upcoming match at the Mendizorrotza stadium is not only critical due to the defensive crisis but is also reportedly poised to decide Xabi Alonso's immediate future as coach. The club's decision-making will hinge on the team's performance in this pivotal game.
