Summary
- Sebastian Walcott underwent elbow surgery with an internal brace.
- Recovery is estimated at five to six months for hitting.
- A return to games in August is possible if recovery progresses.

Sebastian Walcott, the Texas Rangers' No. 7 overall prospect, has undergone internal brace surgery on his right elbow, offering a more optimistic outlook than initially feared. General manager Ross Fenstermaker announced the procedure on Tuesday, as reported by MLB.com. This surgical approach means Walcott's recovery could be shorter, potentially allowing him to resume hitting within five to six months.
While the team initially projected a season-ending injury for 2026, the internal brace surgery significantly improves the chances of Walcott playing games later this year. Fenstermaker indicated that an August return to hitting in games is a possibility if his rehabilitation progresses smoothly. Signed in 2023 from the Bahamas, the 19-year-old infielder spent the 2025 season at Double-A, hitting .255 with 13 home runs and 32 stolen bases. His major league debut is now anticipated in 2027 at the earliest.
