Concerns over early winter sunsets and cold temperatures are casting doubt on Ranchi hosting the fourth Test of the 2027 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. India's team management has highlighted that fading light and low temperatures could disrupt play and prevent the required 90 overs from being bowled daily. This has led to discussions about relocating the match, scheduled from February 19 to 23.

Potential alternative venues being considered include Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad, and Rajkot, all of which offer more favorable conditions during February. These cities boast warmer weather and longer daylight hours, making them more practical choices for ensuring uninterrupted play. The BCCI has not yet made an official decision, but a change in venue seems increasingly possible.

In contrast, Guwahati is expected to proceed with its scheduled Test, though the start time might be adjusted slightly earlier to accommodate daylight. The inclusion of Guwahati is reportedly influenced by its inclusion in the schedule, with minor timing tweaks likely to resolve any practical issues. Notably, major venues like Kolkata, Mumbai, and Delhi have been omitted from the series schedule.
