Security measures have been significantly increased at the Jharkhand State Cricket Association International Cricket Stadium in Ranchi for the upcoming India-West Indies second T20 international. Notably, barbed-wire barricades have been installed for the first time between spectator areas and the playing field. This measure aims to prevent incidents where spectators have previously entered the field of play.
In addition to the physical barriers, approximately 150 CCTV cameras have been installed throughout and around the stadium. This extensive surveillance network is intended to monitor movement, particularly of unauthorized individuals, and bolster overall security. Preparations for the match are in full swing, with ground staff tending to the pitch and outfield.
Ticket sales saw enthusiastic cricket fans queuing for hours, with arrangements made to accommodate all attendees, including differently-abled fans. Senior police officials, led by ADG-cum-IG Manoj Kaushik, conducted a thorough review of security arrangements. This included discussions on spectator and player security, traffic control, entry/exit points, and emergency response, ensuring a secure environment for the event.
