In a swift move following a critical defeat, the Los Angeles Rams have released kicker Harrison Mevis. This decision came less than a day after head coach Sean McVay indicated a review of the team's kicking performance. Mevis's performance in the recent 37-34 overtime loss to the Buffalo Bills was scrutinized.
During the "Monday Night Football" game, Mevis successfully converted four extra points but failed to connect on a 50-yard field goal in the first quarter. The most impactful miss was a 48-yard attempt in overtime that was blocked.
Following the blocked kick, the Bills secured their victory with a field goal five plays later. Mevis had initially joined the Rams' practice squad on November 8, 2025, taking over from Joshua Karty. Over his 14-game tenure across two seasons, Mevis made 17 of 22 field goal attempts and maintained a perfect record on 53 extra-point tries.
The Rams are now bringing in Blake Grupe, signing him from the New York Jets' practice squad to fill the kicking vacancy.
