- One runner overcame a hip injury to complete the race.

Richard Mayo, dressed as a sugar cube, and Karl Fitzpatrick, in a shoe costume, completed the 2026 TCS London Marathon, raising vital funds for Jersey charities. Mayo's participation highlighted Maturity Onset Diabetes of the Young (MODY), a genetic condition impacting his family, and aimed to raise awareness and donations for Diabetes Jersey.
Fitzpatrick ran in tribute to the father of a close friend, supporting Jersey Hospice Care. Despite a recent hip injury, Mayo persevered, crediting spectator support for carrying him through difficult moments. A particularly inspiring point for Mayo was receiving loud cheers from a Diabetes UK group on London Bridge.
Mayo's family has a significant history with MODY, with five of his seven siblings affected by the condition, which requires careful management. He was thrilled to exceed his initial fundraising goal of £2,000, ultimately raising approximately £6,500, which will help fund genetic testing for his family.
Fitzpatrick described the marathon as exceptionally hot with a large crowd. He emphasized the exceptional spirit of the London Marathon and the amazing atmosphere, noting the camaraderie even between supporters from Jersey and Guernsey.
