PWHL Detroit has secured defenseman Sydney Bard on a two-year contract, preparing for their inaugural 2026-27 season. Bard, previously with the Vancouver Goldeneyes, joins Detroit as their sixth player and first addition during Phase 3 of the Expansion Player Distribution Process. Her collegiate career at Colgate University was marked by significant achievements, including four ECAC titles and captaincy in her senior year, where she also surpassed 100 career points.
Originally drafted by the Boston Fleet, Bard also earned a silver medal with Team USA at the 2019 IIHF U18 Women's World Championship. She will reunite with teammate Hannah Bilka, with whom she shared her rookie season in Boston. Detroit's roster also includes forwards Daryl Watts, Britta Curl-Salemme, and Jesse Compher, strengthening the team for its upcoming debut.
