The 2026 Pune racing season is set to electrify audiences from July 17 to November 15, offering a total prize purse of ₹14 crore. This extensive season encompasses 21 race days, meticulously planned by the Royal Western India Turf Club.
The racing calendar prominently features the distinguished Villoo C. Poonawalla Pune Derby (Gr. 1), boasting a substantial ₹1 crore prize. Another significant event, the Indian St. Leger (Gr. 1), known for testing equine stamina, will award ₹75 lakh to its victor.
A total of 844 horses, including 281 promising youngsters, are stabled for the season. The event will also see the participation of 29 'A' licensed trainers and 51 'A' licensed jockeys, ensuring a high caliber of racing.
Outstation horses are permitted to compete, with minor restrictions in lower classes, enhancing the overall competitiveness. The season is supported by key sponsors including the Poonawalla family, Raptakos Brett & Co. Ltd., and the SRS Group.
