Teen Golfers Tee Off at Puerto Rico Open

The upcoming 2026 Puerto Rico Open is embracing a new wave of golfing talent, with a 120-man field including several teenagers and promising young players. This edition marks a significant moment for John Daly II, who is set to make his PGA Tour debut at Grand Reserve Golf Club next week.
Among the notable young competitors are 18-year-old Blades Brown, who is a Korn Ferry Tour member, and 17-year-olds Miles Russell and Yanhan Zhou, who plays on the DP World Tour. Evan Pena, a 17-year-old from Puerto Rico, is also slated to compete, having previously played in the event at age 15.
Tournament director Matt Truax expressed enthusiasm for providing playing opportunities to these emerging stars. Another young golfer, 19-year-old Carson Bertagnole, earned an exemption into the event following his runner-up finish at the White Sands Men's Bahamas Invitational.
The field also boasts seasoned professionals and past champions, including defending champion Karl Vilips, Tony Finau, Matt Kuchar, Camilo Villegas, Rasmus Hojgaard, Brandt Snedeker, Luke Clanton, Nick Dunlap, and Neal Shipley, promising a compelling competition.
