PSL 2026 Matches Go Dark: Fans Locked Out Amidst West Asia Conflict
22 Mar
Summary
- PSL 2026 initial matches will be played without spectators.
- Match venues reduced from six locations to just two cities.
- PCB chairman cited fuel crisis and war concerns for the decision.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced significant changes to the upcoming 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL) season. In response to the ongoing conflict in West Asia, the initial matches will be held without spectators. This decision aims to restrict movement and address fuel crisis concerns, as requested by Pakistan's Prime Minister.
The number of venues has been drastically reduced from six to just two. All initial games will now be hosted exclusively at Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium and Karachi's National Stadium. This marks a significant shift from the originally planned schedule which included Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Multan, and Faisalabad.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi confirmed these decisions on March 22, 2026, following consultations with franchise owners and government officials. The opening ceremony has also been cancelled. Fans who purchased tickets will be eligible for full refunds, and franchise owners will be compensated for potential revenue losses. Legal action may be taken against players withdrawing from contracts for IPL opportunities.
