The event featured a 2.5-km disability run that attracted 251 participants, including 36-year-old Lalita from Greater Noida, who is partially paralyzed from polio since childhood.
Lalita arrived at the stadium hours before the 7 am run, her excitement keeping her up all night. "I kept chatting away the whole night with my volunteer, as I was too thrilled to risk missing out on anything," she said, her voice radiating determination.
Also among the early risers was 23-year-old Arush Khanna, who has cerebral palsy. This was his thirteenth year at the event, with his proud father, Kapil Khanna, by his side. "It has become a tradition for us to come here every year," Kapil said. "It's his way of registering his presence, and my way of supporting him."
The disability run was not merely about physical endurance but about reaffirming that disability cannot define the human spirit. The event celebrated inclusion, independence, and the belief that ability is a matter of will, inspiring participants and spectators alike.
