Playoff Sluggers Stanton, Suzuki, and Greene Seek October Glory
2 Oct
Summary
- Giancarlo Stanton seeks first hit in playoffs at Yankee Stadium
- Seiya Suzuki aims to continue power surge against Padres' Darvish
- Tigers' Riley Greene eyes first playoff home run after strong regular season

The 2025 MLB playoffs are in full swing, and several power hitters are primed to make their mark in Thursday's crucial Game 3 matchups.
New York Yankees designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton is seeking his first hit of the postseason after going 0-for-8 so far. Despite not finding success at the plate, Stanton has hit the ball hard, with six of his batted balls having an exit velocity of at least 89.8 mph, including three over 100 mph. He'll look to finally connect against rookie starter Connelly Early and the Yankees' home crowd.
Meanwhile, Chicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki has been feast or famine in the playoffs, with a home run and a double but also three strikeouts and a double play. Suzuki will aim to keep his power surge going against Padres right-hander Yu Darvish, whom he has had success against in the past.

On the other side, Detroit Tigers slugger Riley Greene is looking to provide the first home run of the playoffs for his team. Greene had 36 home runs in the regular season and has already recorded two doubles in the first two games. If he can get the ball in the air against Slade Cecconi, who allowed 24 home runs this season, Greene could give the Tigers a much-needed boost.
