Basso Shines in Audition for A's Rotation

Brady Basso made a strong case for a permanent spot in the Athletics' starting rotation by delivering four scoreless innings against the Blue Jays. This performance, which included a season-high pitch count, secured a series win for the A's. Manager Mark Kotsay had viewed this outing as more than just an opener role, but an audition for Basso.

Basso's success is a testament to his perseverance, overcoming shoulder issues that plagued him in the past. He revamped his offseason throwing program, which has been key to his health and performance this season. His varied pitch mix kept Toronto's lineup off balance, allowing for weak contact and limiting hits.

Having previously been a highly-touted prospect, Basso's journey included a stint as a reliever due to injury. Now, with his health restored, he is capitalizing on this opportunity to showcase his potential as a starter, aiming for the dream role he envisioned when he entered professional baseball.
