In October 2025, Parvez Rasool, the trailblazing cricketer from Jammu & Kashmir, has announced his retirement from all formats of the game after a remarkable 17-year career. Rasool, the first player from the region to represent India in international cricket and also the first to feature in the IPL, has decided to hang up his boots and pursue a career in coaching.
During his illustrious career, Rasool, an off-spinning all-rounder, claimed 352 wickets at an average of 27.21 in 95 matches and amassed 5,648 runs at 38.95, with 16 centuries and 22 half-centuries. He was a consistent performer at the domestic level, winning the Lala Amarnath Trophy for the best all-rounder in the Ranji Trophy on two occasions, in 2013-14 and 2017-18.
While Rasool's international career was limited to a solitary T20I and one ODI, he takes pride in his achievements and the impact he has made on cricket in Jammu & Kashmir. He played a crucial role in the team's success, leading them to the Ranji Trophy quarterfinals twice under his captaincy. Rasool is now looking forward to contributing to Indian cricket's future by pursuing a full-time coaching career, aiming to pass on his experience and knowledge to the next generation of cricketers.
