Phillies Sign Ex-Prospect Carlson
13 May
Summary
- Phillies signed Dylan Carlson on a minor-league deal.
- Carlson was a top prospect and former Rookie of the Year finalist.
- He will report to Triple A Lehigh Valley for organizational depth.

The Philadelphia Phillies bolstered their minor league system Tuesday by signing veteran outfielder Dylan Carlson to a contract. Carlson, who was a highly regarded prospect in the St. Louis Cardinals organization, was the 33rd overall pick in the 2016 draft.
He achieved significant recognition in 2021, finishing third in National League Rookie of the Year voting after hitting .266 with 18 home runs and 65 RBIs. Despite this early success, Carlson did not build on that season and subsequently played for Tampa Bay, Baltimore, and the Chicago Cubs. He appeared in three games for the Cubs this season and was recently released from their Triple A club.
Carlson is expected to report to Triple A Lehigh Valley. His addition provides the Phillies organization with experienced depth across all three outfield positions. Other notable outfielders in the Phillies' minor league system include Steward Berroa, Gabrielle Rincones Jr., Otto Kemp, and Bryan De La Cruz.
