Former NFL quarterback Philip Rivers has publicly discussed his head coaching interview with the Buffalo Bills for the first time. The Bills organization reached out to Rivers' agent, Jimmy Sexton, expressing interest in having him interview for the head coaching position.
Rivers described the interview process as "somewhat intimidating," taking place in a large boardroom with ownership, the general manager, and quarterback Josh Allen present. He presented his qualifications using a notebook, contrasting with other candidates who brought elaborate audio-visual materials.
Despite lacking direct NFL coaching experience, Rivers conveyed his belief that his nearly two decades as a starting quarterback made him an extension of the head coach. He felt this experience would enable him to connect with Josh Allen and expressed his readiness for the role at that time.
