Pedro Ramirez, the Chicago Cubs' seventh-ranked prospect, received a 2025 MiLB Gold Glove Award for his outstanding defensive play at third base. Ramirez showcased remarkable control at the hot corner, committing just four errors in 68 games during his first season at the position in 2025. His defensive acumen extended to second base as well, resulting in only eight total errors across all positions.
Ramirez's accomplishments were recognized at the Cubs' Spring Training game on Tuesday against Team Italy. The 21-year-old, who was added to the Cubs' 40-man roster in November, is valued for his defensive versatility by manager Craig Counsell. "You're probably going to have to move around," Counsell noted, emphasizing the importance of adaptable players in the big leagues.
Beyond his fielding, Ramirez demonstrated significant offensive capability, batting .280 with 73 RBIs, ranking second in the Southern League for 2025. His Minor League career statistics include a .291 batting average and 220 RBIs. Currently, Ramirez is performing well in spring training games, hitting .364, and is actively learning from veteran players like Nico Hoerner and Dansby Swanson.
