São Paulo commences its Copa Sudamericana Group C campaign on Wednesday evening, with a match against Boston River scheduled for 9:30 p.m. Brasília time. The game will take place at the Centenario stadium in Montevideo, Uruguay.
Boston River, the Uruguayan opponent, has shown improved form under coach Ignacio Ithurralde, securing three wins and one loss in their last four matches. This recent run has lifted them to 13th place in their domestic league, a significant turnaround from their previous winless streak.
Meanwhile, São Paulo enters this continental fixture with renewed confidence after a crucial victory against Cruzeiro. This win helped alleviate the tension built from a three-round winless spell in their local league. Due to a packed schedule, manager Roger Machado has opted to rest key players, with Sabino, Luciano, and Calleri not traveling for this match.
The match will be officiated by Argentinian referee Leandro Rey Hilfer and will be broadcast by SBT and Paramount+.
