The New England Patriots are off to a difficult 1-2 start this season, largely due to the struggles of quarterback Drake Maye. Through three games, Maye has committed a total of seven turnovers, including two interceptions and a lost fumble in a recent 35-6 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. This alarming trend has led to significant concern from head coach Mike Vrabel.
Coach Vrabel described his concern level for the team as "very high," highlighting turnovers as a primary issue that needs immediate attention. Maye himself has acknowledged his personal struggles, calling his performance "unacceptable" and vowing to make this a turning point in his season.
Despite the team's early-season woes, his teammates, like cornerback Christian Gonzalez, have publicly backed Maye, stating their full support and belief in him as the team's quarterback. The Patriots face a challenging schedule ahead, and analysts suggest that Maye will need to significantly elevate his play to help the team recover from this slump.
