Two years after its initial release, the sports drama Ghoomer has been re-released as a tribute to the Indian women's cricket team's recent World Cup victory. Directed by R Balki, the film stars Saiyami Kher as a paraplegic cricketer and Abhishek Bachchan as her coach.

Saiyami reflects on the renewed relevance of Ghoomer, saying the re-release came as a surprise but a fitting way to celebrate the women's historic achievement. She underwent months of intense preparation, including learning to bowl and perform everyday tasks with her left hand after her character loses her right arm.
