Veteran Parachutist Escapes Injury After Malfunction

A pre-game parachute stunt at the Armed Forces Bowl took a frightening turn when one of the participating veteran parachutists became entangled in a cable. The individual was left suspended momentarily before falling several yards onto the field at Amon G. Carter Stadium. Spectators audibly reacted to the alarming descent.
Fortunately, the parachutist from the All Veteran Group team, comprised of military veterans, was able to walk away from the incident without serious injury. A spokesperson confirmed that no one on the ground was harmed. High winds were identified as the contributing factor to the malfunction, affecting other jumps as well.
This incident marks the second parachute-related mishap during this bowl season. Despite the scare, the Armed Forces Bowl commenced as scheduled, with Texas State securing a decisive 41-10 victory over Rice. The game concluded Rice's season with a 5-8 record.
