Panthers' Receiving Corps Shines in Texans Joint Practice
14 Aug
Summary
- Xavier Legette scores TD with a "nasty double move"
- Rookie Tetairoa McMillan bounces back from previous drops
- Cornerback Mike Jackson intercepts Texans QB C.J. Stroud

The Carolina Panthers' receiving corps is shaping up to be one of the team's biggest strengths heading into the 2025 NFL season. This was on full display during the team's joint practice with the Houston Texans on August 13th.
After a disappointing performance in their previous preseason game against the Cleveland Browns, several Panthers pass-catchers stepped up to make plays against the Texans' elite defense. Rookie wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan, the team's top draft pick, bounced back from a couple of drops in the Browns game to make a big touchdown catch, adding significant yards after the catch.
Veteran receiver Xavier Legette also made a highlight-reel play, executing a "nasty double move" to get open and haul in a touchdown pass from quarterback Bryce Young. The Panthers' defense got in on the action as well, with cornerback Mike Jackson intercepting Texans QB C.J. Stroud.

While the Panthers will take it easy with a walkthrough on August 14th, they appear to be rounding into form ahead of their second preseason game against the Texans on August 19th. With their deep and talented receiving corps leading the way, the Panthers could be poised to make a playoff push in the 2025 season.
