Panthers GM Open to All Draft Possibilities

Carolina Panthers General Manager Dan Morgan has adopted a flexible approach regarding the team's draft strategy, stating that no position is off-limits. Morgan emphasized a 'best player available' philosophy, indicating that the Panthers will select the top talent on their draft board, even if it means choosing a wide receiver early.

Despite the allure of offensive playmakers, Morgan highlighted the critical need to strengthen the defense. Positions like edge rusher and linebacker are considered top priorities for the upcoming draft. Morgan, a former linebacker himself, underscored the significant role these players fulfill in a team's defensive scheme.

The Panthers are widely expected to target a linebacker with their first-round pick, potentially selecting Georgia's CJ Allen. However, veteran free agents like Chiefs linebacker Leo Chenal are also viewed as ideal targets to address linebacker needs. While receiver depth is acknowledged, Morgan suggested that acquiring talent at this position should occur later in the draft, with players like Zachariah Branch or Germie Bernard being viable third-round options.

Branch is noted for his speed and deep-threat potential, while Bernard is recognized for his reliable hands and route-running.
