Miandad Slams Pakistan's T20 Performance: 'Failed Again'

The Pakistan cricket fraternity is in a state of gloom following the team's T20 World Cup campaign. Former captain Javed Miandad expressed profound disappointment, stating that the team failed to make a significant impact on the global stage once again. He observed that Pakistan's players are struggling to keep pace with the increasingly methodical format of T20 cricket.

Miandad emphasized that the team's struggles against higher-ranked opponents are a serious concern, calling for radical decisions from the Pakistan Cricket Board. Former captain Mohammad Yousuf agreed, noting that several players have been given ample chances in T20 cricket without delivering in major tournaments. He stressed the importance of moving on and learning from past mistakes.

Moin Khan, another former skipper, pointed out that Pakistan cannot win ICC events without the capability to defeat top-tier teams. He lamented errors in player selection and on-field execution, noting that key players underperformed during the World Cup. Incumbent captain Salman Ali Agha and senior players like Babar Azam, Shadab Khan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi are facing intense scrutiny.

Criticism has also extended to former coach Saqlain Mushtaq for his defense of his son-in-law Shadab Khan's performance. Cricket writer Omair Alavi commented that former players acting as experts should avoid analyzing matches if relatives are playing, suggesting their analyses may be biased.
