PCB in PKR 4.5 Billion Debt Crisis
7 May
Summary
- PCB faces significant financial pressure due to unpaid dues.
- A major rights holder owes PKR 4.5 billion in outstanding payments.
- PSL franchises seek pending revenue shares from the board.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is currently under significant financial strain as it attempts to recover billions in unpaid dues from various stakeholders. A major challenge stems from a primary rights holder who owes an estimated PKR 4.5 billion for broadcast, media, and commercial rights, claiming heavy losses. This substantial outstanding amount has prevented the PCB from updating its financial records and auditing its accounts.
Adding to the pressure, Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises are actively seeking their outstanding revenue shares, payments that have been pending since 2010 for some. While some franchises have settled their annual fees, they are now highlighting the board's pending obligations, with one team reporting it has not received its full entitlement of around PKR 96 crore for the league's 10th edition. The PCB has stated it cannot disburse these payments until it receives funds from its own contractual partners, indicating a broader financial logjam within the PSL ecosystem.
The PCB still owes some franchises between PKR 40 to 45 crore from last year's central pool distributions. This ongoing dispute highlights the precarious financial situation of the league, with payments stalled at multiple levels, impacting the overall financial structure of the PSL.
