7 Jun
Summary
- Bueckers scored 18 points and had 14 assists in a recent win.
- Sparks missed drafting Bueckers, dropping to second in the lottery.
- Bueckers is on an All-WNBA pace and won Rookie of the Year.
In a recent game, Paige Bueckers delivered a standout performance with 18 points and a career-high 14 assists, guiding her team to a 104-96 victory. Her play continues to draw attention in Los Angeles, where she has had notable outings, including a 44-point game during her rookie campaign.
The 2025 WNBA draft lottery presented a critical juncture for the Los Angeles Sparks. Despite holding the best odds to secure the No. 1 pick and potentially draft Bueckers, the Sparks dropped to the second position. This led to a trade for Kelsey Plum and a series of franchise changes.
Bueckers' exceptional play, including her unanimous Rookie of the Year award and current All-WNBA pace, intensifies the 'what if' narrative for the Sparks. The franchise, which narrowly missed the playoffs last year and is off to a 4-6 start this season, will likely grapple with this missed opportunity for years to come.
