Williamson experienced a minor finger injury in late June that temporarily halted his progress, but he persevered through a minor-league rehab assignment. Across six rehab appearances, he posted a 5.94 ERA over 16 2/3 innings.
Fernando Tatis Jr. hit two home runs in Tuesday's contest for the Padres, but expressed disappointment that his efforts were not enough to secure a win. The Reds also promoted rookie infielder Juan Brito from Triple-A Louisville, partly due to Elly De La CruzDHing and Eugenio Suarez being unavailable.
