19 Dec
Summary
- Padres agree to a three-year deal with Korean infielder Sung-Mun Song.
- Song, 29, brings a left-handed bat and infield versatility.
- He significantly improved offensive stats in the KBO over the last two seasons.

The San Diego Padres have reportedly reached an agreement with South Korean infielder Sung-Mun Song on a three-year contract, with the deal contingent on a physical examination. This move adds a versatile left-handed hitter to the team's offensive lineup. Song is expected to provide depth across the infield.
Song, aged 29, has demonstrated significant improvement in his offensive performance in the Korea Baseball Organization over the past two seasons, surpassing a .900 OPS in both years. He has experience playing primarily third base, with additional appearances at second and first base.
This acquisition comes as the Heroes, Song's former KBO team, posted him for major league consideration last month. The Padres will be responsible for a posting fee to the Heroes, calculated as 20 percent of Song's total contract guarantee.
