Packers QB Love Exits Early in Preseason Opener

The Green Bay Packers chose a different approach than the Steelers regarding their starting quarterback's playing time during Thursday night's preseason opener. Jordan Love participated in the game's initial drive, moving the team 46 yards over 10 plays, which resulted in a field goal. Love exited the game after this series, with Tyrod Taylor subsequently taking over as the Packers' quarterback.

Love's time on the field was slightly extended due to a penalty on a field goal attempt. Despite hitting the kick, the Packers accepted an unnecessary roughness penalty against Steelers defensive lineman Dean Lowry. This allowed Green Bay to re-attempt the kick from a shorter distance after an incomplete pass on third down. Love completed 3 of 5 passes for 18 yards during his brief appearance, including a 19-yard gain to Jayden Reed, but also experienced a four-yard loss on a pass to MarShawn Lloyd.
