13 Jun
Summary
- Oxford Cricket Club must vacate Jordan Hill ground by next season.
- Landowner Oxford University Press deems site 'no longer viable'.
- Closure impacts cricket, bowls, and tennis clubs using the facility.

Oxford Cricket Club faces an abrupt end to its tenure at the Jordan Hill sports ground, having been instructed to vacate by the upcoming season. The club, which has used the Oxford University Press (OUP) owned site since 2016, must relocate its operations by the end of September.
OUP has stated that continuing to upgrade and maintain the facility is "no longer viable" in the long term. This decision follows a review indicating limited usage by its staff, prompting the closure of core facilities by September's end.
This abrupt closure will not only impact the cricket club but also the adjacent OUP Bowls Club and local tennis groups. The former North Oxford Golf Club site, nearby, was also redeveloped for housing.
The cricket club, boasting 130 years of history, has had various grounds across the city. Its men's and women's first teams currently compete in the Home Counties Premier Cricket Leagues.
