Melbourne Stars have signed twin brothers Craig and Jamie Overton on one-year deals for BBL|16. This landmark signing makes them the first set of twins to compete in the Big Bash League. Craig arrives at the Stars without prior BBL experience, while Jamie transitions from the Adelaide Strikers, where he spent the last three seasons.
"It's a unique story having twin brothers sign together," stated Melbourne Stars general manager James Rosengarten. Craig Overton brings a strong record, including seven ODIs and eight Test matches for England, and experience on Australian pitches. In the 2026 northern summer, he was instrumental in the Trent Rockets' Hundred final appearance, earning him the Professional Cricketers' Association's Most Valuable Player award.
Both Overton brothers are noted for their genuine pace and significant hitting power. "We think this dual signing is going to set us up really well for success," added Rosengarten. Their inclusion provides the Melbourne Stars with considerable depth in pace bowling and all-round capabilities, complementing existing players like Peter Siddle.
