As the 2026 college football season approaches, the Oklahoma Sooners are positioned as a top contender, securing the No. 9 spot in the US LBM Coaches Poll and the No. 10 ranking in the AP Poll. This significant preseason recognition highlights the team's potential for a successful year.
In contrast, the Oklahoma State Cowboys did not feature in either of the major preseason polls, though they did garner some votes. Following a challenging 2025 season where they secured only one win, the Cowboys will be looking to rebound. Their season opener is scheduled as an away game against Tulsa.
The Sooners are slated to kick off their season on home turf, hosting UTEP. This matchup will be the first opportunity for fans to see the ranked Sooners in action.
