Orioles' Prospect Creed Willems Showcases Offensive Potential
17 Nov, 2025
Summary
- Left-handed hitter with power, hit 16 homers in 2025
- Strong arm, threw out 28% of potential base stealers
- Unclear if he can stick at catcher position long-term
As of November 17, 2025, Creed Willems, an unranked prospect in the Orioles' system, has been making a case for a roster spot. The left-handed hitting catcher/first baseman spent time on the team's Top 30 prospects list in the past, but was knocked off following the 2025 MLB Draft and a flurry of trades at the deadline.
Willems' offensive potential is evident, as he belted 16 home runs in 2025. He also demonstrated a strong throwing arm, throwing out 28% of potential base stealers. However, it remains unclear whether he can solidify his position behind the plate, as the Orioles have a logjam of talent at the catcher and first base positions.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding his long-term role, Willems' performance in 2025 has not gone unnoticed. The Orioles will likely continue to evaluate his development and determine if he can carve out a spot on the major league roster in the coming seasons.
