Bomb Threat Evacuates Oregon Track Stadium

The track and field stadium at the University of Oregon, Hayward Field, was evacuated on Tuesday afternoon after a bomb threat was received via phone. Athletes who were practicing at the time of the threat were promptly removed from the premises. A news conference that was scheduled for the same afternoon was also canceled due to the incident.

This evacuation took place just one day before Hayward Field is scheduled to begin hosting the NCAA's outdoor championships, which are set to run from Wednesday through Saturday. It remains unclear if the bomb threat is connected to the upcoming championships. Hayward Field has a history of hosting significant national and international track events, including the World Track Championships in 2022 and the U.S. Olympic team trials for the 2024 Paris Games.
