This situation is further complicated by the transfer of Makhi Hughes and Jayden Limar, and an existing foot injury sidelining Da'Jaun Riggs.

Whittington, who has accumulated 829 rushing yards and six touchdowns this season, is expected to attempt warm-ups but is unlikely to start. His availability will be a game-time decision. Davison, who leads the team with 15 touchdowns, is confirmed to be unavailable for the game. Oregon's coach, Dan Lanning, indicated that Whittington's playing time will depend on his performance during warm-ups.

With their primary running backs sidelined, the Ducks are reportedly exploring unconventional solutions, including deploying defensive players to fill the void in the backfield. Safety Kilohana Haasenritter, who began his career as a tailback, and linebacker Brayden Pratt, who played running back in high school, are among those being considered. Jay Harris, despite entering the transfer portal, will be available, and true freshman Dierre Hill Jr. may also see increased carries.
