Oregon Lands 5-Star QB Will Mencl

Oregon's football program has landed a significant commitment from five-star quarterback Will Mencl, who announced his decision on Wednesday. Mencl, considered the top quarterback recruit nationally for the 2027 cycle, selected the Ducks over offers from Auburn and Penn State. His commitment marks a major win for Oregon's recruiting efforts under head coach Dan Lanning. Mencl's impressive junior season statistics include completing over 70% of his passes for 3,815 yards and 33 touchdowns, alongside 741 rushing yards and 17 rushing touchdowns. This talent infusion is expected to create strong competition within Oregon's quarterback room. The addition of Mencl elevates Oregon's current recruiting class, placing it among the nation's best. The Ducks have a history of strong recruiting in Arizona, and Mencl's commitment further solidifies this trend. Securing his pledge before the summer is crucial, and Oregon aims to ensure his continued commitment through his senior season at Chandler High School. The program has recently experienced decommitments, making Mencl's retention a top priority.
