Ondine Achampong Faces New Setback After Injury Return

Young gymnast Ondine Achampong, aged 21, has encountered another significant injury. In November 2025, during intrasquad training at the University of California, Berkeley, she suffered a partial tear in her ACL, impacting the same knee that was injured in April 2024. This recurring injury comes after a strong comeback earlier in 2025, where Achampong achieved personal bests and impressed on the uneven bars and balance beam for Cal. Her initial ACL injury in April 2024 regrettably led to her missing the opportunity to compete in the 2024 Paris Olympics. Following the latest diagnosis via MRI, Achampong's medical team has determined that surgery is necessary.
