Oman achieved a significant morale boost with a five-wicket victory over Sri Lanka A in their official ICC Men's T20 World Cup warm-up match. The contest took place at the Colombo Cricket Club Ground on Monday.
Veteran opener Aamir Kaleem was the architect of Oman's successful chase, scoring a brilliant 80 off 47 balls. He anchored the innings effectively, ensuring Oman stayed ahead of the required run rate. Despite a brief wobble in the middle order where Sri Lanka A's Wanuja Sahan took three wickets, Oman remained in control.
Vinayak Shukla played a vital role in the closing stages, remaining unbeaten on 39 from 24 deliveries. His composed hitting, supported by Jiten Ramanandi, saw Oman comfortably pass the target of 146 with 18 overs bowled, two overs within the allotted time.
Earlier, Oman's disciplined bowling restricted Sri Lanka A to 145 for 9. Shah Faisal set the tone with two early wickets, while spinners Jay Odedra and Shakeel Ahmed also claimed two wickets each. Wanuja Sahan top-scored for Sri Lanka A with 29.
