Olympics Acquires Oscar-Nominated Afghan Ski Doc

The official digital platform of the Olympic Movement, Olympics.com, will exclusively stream the award-winning documentary "Champions of the Golden Valley" starting December 19. This feature film captures the remarkable story of aspiring skiers from Afghanistan, aiming for Oscar recognition.

Directed by Ben Sturgulewski, the documentary focuses on Afghan skier Alishah Farhang and his efforts to foster a ski culture in the Bamyan region. Despite missing qualification for the Winter Olympics, Farhang's dedication inspired a local ski movement, bringing joy and unity. The film showcases the community's resourcefulness, with children crafting skis from wood to participate in the sport.

Boasting an impressive list of executive producers, including Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai and Emmy winner Doug Blush, the film has garnered over 30 international awards since its premiere at the Tribeca Festival.
