Olympics Hockey Player Suspended for Provocative Behavior
17 Feb
Summary
- Player banned for rest of Games due to actions on ice.
- Federation cited violation of Olympic spirit and sport values.
- Fight occurred after teammate received a hit to the jaw.

A French hockey player has been suspended for the remainder of the Winter Olympics, the French Ice Hockey Federation announced Monday. Pierre Crinon will not participate in any further matches, including Tuesday's game against Germany, due to his conduct during a qualification round game.
The federation stated that Crinon's "provocative behavior" after being excluded for a fight clearly violated the Olympic spirit and undermined the values of sport. This decision was made in alignment with the French National Olympic and Sports Committee.
The suspension stems from an incident during the match against Canada, which France lost 10-2. Crinon fought Canadian player Tom Wilson with approximately seven minutes left in the game. Both players were ejected as Olympic rules do not include five-minute major penalties for fighting.
Earlier in the game, Crinon received a two-minute penalty for a hit to the jaw of Canadian teammate Nathan MacKinnon. France currently has no points in the Olympic tournament.
