They will face Eastern Illinois this weekend, with the regional tournament running from Friday through Sunday.
This postseason appearance signifies OSU's pursuit of a sixth trip to the Women's College World Series in the last seven tournaments. Coach Kenny Gajewski has consistently led the Cowgirls to postseason play since his tenure began in 2016. This marks the sixth time OSU has been a national seed, and they are the No. 13 overall seed in the tournament. Should they win their regional, the Cowgirls would advance to the super regionals, playing on the road.
The regional opener between Oklahoma State and Eastern Illinois is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. central time. Prior to that, Princeton will play Stanford at 1 p.m. The tournament operates under a double-elimination format, with the championship game slated for Sunday. Two Oklahoma State players, Rosie Davis and Karli Godwin, were named to the Big 12 all-tournament team. Davis boasts a .327/.399/.637 slash line with 14 home runs, while Godwin enters the tournament hitting .318/.432/.519 with seven home runs.
Oklahoma State is among seven Big 12 Conference teams to make the NCAA Tournament. This includes Arizona State, who defeated OSU in the Big 12 Tournament semifinals and went on to win the championship. Texas Tech, the No. 1 seed in the Big 12 Tournament, will also host a regional this weekend.
