The Buffalo Bills are constructing a new Wall of Fame for their upcoming Highmark Stadium, but O.J. Simpson will not be honored. Simpson, a former Pro Football Hall of Fame running back, was initially inducted into the Bills' Wall of Fame in 1980.
Bills president of business operations Pete Guelli confirmed in a statement that Simpson's name will not be part of the new stadium's display. Guelli stated the organization decided Simpson is "not a fit to display inside our new stadium and family circle."
Selected first overall in the 1969 NFL Draft, Simpson played nine of his eleven seasons with the Bills. He achieved significant milestones, including rushing for 10,183 yards and 57 touchdowns, and was the first running back to surpass 2,000 rushing yards in a single season in 1973.
Simpson later faced significant legal issues, including being acquitted of murder charges in 1994, followed by a civil lawsuit where damages were awarded to the victims' families.
