ODI World Cup 2027: New Format and Schedule Revealed!

The International Cricket Council (ICC) and Cricket South Africa (CSA) will reveal the schedule for the ODI World Cup 2027 in Cape Town on October 1st. The tournament is slated to begin on October 2nd, 2027, with the final scheduled for November 21st. Ticket ballots will also open on October 1st.
This edition of the ODI World Cup will be co-hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia. A new format has been introduced for the 2027 tournament, which will feature 14 qualified teams. The initial stage, the Super Series, involves the three lowest-ranked teams competing in a round-robin format.
Following the Super Series, 12 teams will advance to a second round of 30 matches, divided into two groups. The top three from each group, along with the next best-placed team, will proceed to the Super 7 stage. In this final round-robin phase, 21 matches will determine the semifinalists.
The semifinals will see the first-placed team face the fourth, and the second-placed team compete against the third. Australia are the current defending champions, having won the 2023 final against India.
