Norwich City players have stepped up to ensure the continuation of vital disability football programs by donating a day's wages. This substantial gesture, understood to be around £80,000, was made to the Norwich City Community Sports Foundation (CSF) in February.
The funds have been instrumental in securing a full year of sessions for various teams, including those for individuals with wheelchair, Down's syndrome, and cerebral palsy. Additionally, crucial mental health programs have benefited from this generosity.
Club captain Kenny McLean, who organized the collection, visited the CSF and highlighted the importance of using their platform to support the community. He noted that the funding's jeopardy made the players' support a clear decision.
Stevie Bramble, CSF's director of educational programs, praised McLean as an exceptional role model, emphasizing that his commitment, even with upcoming personal commitments, underscored the players' dedication. The donation ensures all provisions for disabled sports are secured for another year.
