Super Bowl EMF Fears Grip NFL Players
4 Feb
Summary
- NFLPA officials are monitoring EMF interference concerns at Levi's Stadium.
- A theory links a nearby substation to player injuries during the 49ers' season.
- Experts and league officials currently state there is no cause for concern.

Officials from the NFL Players Association confirmed on Tuesday they are monitoring concerns regarding electromagnetic interference (EMF) at Levi's Stadium, the site of Sunday's Super Bowl. Player apprehension has surfaced, prompting the association to seek more data.
The Super Bowl is scheduled to feature the New England Patriots against the Seattle Seahawks at the stadium, which is situated near an electrical substation. This proximity has led to theories, amplified on social media, suggesting the substation's EMF output may have contributed to the San Francisco 49ers' injury-plagued regular season.
Despite the growing attention from fans and league personnel, the NFLPA, through its interim executive director, noted that "experts universally, publicly said that there's nothing to be concerned about." 49ers CEO Jed York also dismissed the EMF concerns, pointing out the substation's long-standing presence. The NFL's chief medical officer has similarly disputed the EMF theory.
